We are proud to provide our renowned speech therapy services to the families of Long Island who value personalized care, direct communication, and proven results.

Why Families Choose Tanya Hefets | Certified Speech Language Pathologist

Choosing the right speech therapist is one of the most important decisions a family can make. Our reputation has been built on decades of experience, innovative techniques, and a genuine commitment to every child we work with.

Families appreciate our therapy because we offer:

  • Over 25 years of pediatric speech therapy experience
  • Boutique, concierge-style private practice
  • In-home and school-based sessions for convenience
  • Individualized therapy plans for every child
  • PROMPT and myofunctional therapy techniques
  • A holistic, research-backed approach
  • Direct communication and ongoing family support
  • Flexible scheduling, including weekdays and weekends

We believe the confidence children gain is just as important as the goals and benchmarks they achieve. Our sessions are designed to feel supportive, engaging, and encouraging so children feel safe navigating outside of their comfort zones, trying new skills, and taking pride in their successes.

A Personalized Approach That Builds Confidence and Results

We believe that every child learns differently. Instead of following a rigid program, we develop a customized plan based on each child's strengths, challenges, and learning style.

Our therapeutic approach focuses on:

  • Building strong communication skills
  •  Supporting social and emotional development
  •  Improving literacy and academic readiness
  •  Encouraging independence and confidence
  •  Teaching children how to stay engaged while learning
  • Developing and implementing sensory integration protocol
  • Employing the SOS feeding approach and chewing hierarchy

This holistic model supports the whole child (cognitive-linguistic, physical-sensory, as well as social-emotional). We target many goals simultaneously in order to optimize every child’s potential. By integrating all aspects of development, we optimize goal achievement for children and help them generalize learned skills to home, school, the playground, and beyond.

How the Process Works

Step 1: Complimentary 30-Minute Phone Introduction

We begin with a brief introductory call. This conversation allows us to learn about your child’s needs, answer your questions, and determine whether our approach is the right fit for your family.

Step 2: In-Home Consultation and Evaluation

If you decide to move forward, we schedule an in-home or school-based consultation. During this visit, we evaluate communication skills, learning behaviors, and developmental needs.

Step 3: Personalized Therapy Plan

Based on the evaluation, we create a customized therapy plan. Sessions are typically scheduled one to three times per week, with each lesson designed to maximize progress while keeping children engaged and motivated.

Serving Children of All Ages and Stages

We work with children across a wide range of developmental stages, from early intervention through adolescence.

Young Children

For early learners, we focus on building foundational communication, literacy, and behavioral skills. We help children develop a love of learning while guiding families through important early decisions.

School-Age Children

For school-age students, sessions emphasize language development, academic support, and confidence building. Children benefit from a positive, engaging environment that encourages growth.

Older Students

For older children and teens, therapy may include organization, memory, reading, writing, leadership, and social communication skills. We also assist with high school and college application essays when appropriate.

A Boutique, Concierge-Style Experience

Unlike large clinics, our private practice offers a more personalized experience. Families receive direct communication, flexible scheduling, and consistent support throughout the therapy process.

Our boutique model allows us to:

  • Work closely with each family
  • Adjust strategies as children progress
  • Provide guidance outside of sessions
  • Maintain a calm, nurturing learning environment
  • Focus on meaningful, lasting results

Many families remain with us for years because of the trust and progress they experience.

Long Island families call Tanya’s approach “magical” based on its comprehensiveness and the rapid progress the children achieve.
